Swanston Golf Course is located just a few miles south of Edinburgh city centre in the foothills of the Pentlands.  Home to John Gallagher, the 2007 Scottish Amateur Champion, the golfing facilities include the par 68 Swanston 18-hole course, a 9-hole short course, a 350-yeard driving range and three full size USGA spec practice greens.

Heating System
IHS has installed a 45kW open well heat pump combined with an underfloor heating system to heat the 800m² building.

This is an open well system which extracts heat from a well that was specially drilled into an aquifer.  After the water has circulated through the heat pump and the heat has been extracted from it, the water is then taken on to a holding tank where it is subsequently used for irrigation of the greens.
