New Build, Inverness
|
This house was designed by Trevor Black Architect and proved one of the most popular attractions at Scotland’s Housing Expo which welcomed over 30,000 visitors through its gates throughout the month of August 2010. Built by O’Brien Homes, and designed to take account of traditional Highland housing, this is a four-bedroom “upside-down” house which allowed IHS to showcase perfectly the quality of our design and product range.
The property is heated by a 10kW air source heat pump with 825 litre tank and integrated solar thermal panels. This will supply 100% heating and hot water to the property. The air source heat pump was notably the most efficient and quiet at the Expo with some clients genuinely struggling to hear it operate.
As the kitchen and living area are upstairs, IHS installed Lewis Plates into the first floor to allow for installation of the underfloor heating. Not only do these steel reinforcement sheets increase the load-bearing capability of the floor structure, they enhance the thermal transfer property when underfloor heating is installed with the lower temperature heat pump. Additionally, their acoustic insulation properties are superb and we can attest to this as hundreds of people trooped up and downstairs day after day!
